Mazda Lamp
Inspired by Achille Castiglioni’s found object designs, this lamp was an exercise to celebrate both form and functionality through the medium of found objects. It is made from an antique incandescent bulb, a gas lamp chimney, a rubber CV boot, a mogul socket, and a stainless steel dish. These unlike parts seamlessly fit together to create an intriguing interplay of forms. An autotransformer controls the 200w bulb, allowing the user to control the light output within a pleasant and adjustable range. As an added benefit, the reduced voltage ensures the bulb will last for many more years to come.
